Let’s also talk about the benefits of being outside
Nature walk
Research shows that ecotherapy has shown a strong connection between time spent in nature and reduced stress, anxiety, and depression.
When people are depressed or stressed, our prefrontal cortex acts abnormal. People experience a continuous loop of negative thoughts, it becomes a hard cycle to break.
One study found that those who spent time outside had lower activity in the prefrontal cortex which is a good thing, we want to break repetitive thoughts that focus on negative emotions.
What if the weather is not cooperating?
If you can't make it outside, listening to nature sounds can have a similar effect, suggests a report published online March 27, 2017, by Scientific Reports. Researchers used an MRI scanner to measure brain activity in people as they listened to sounds recorded from either natural or artificial environments. The results show decreased negative emotions.
Youtube has a huge collection of nature sounds.
Can you share a picture of you outdoors?
Let's also speak about stress. Chronic stress makes it difficult for our stress hormone cortisol to return to a normal level which can contribute to
heart problems
sleep problems
decreased immunity
decreased fertility
Chronic stress can also increase a person’s risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease as well as mood swings, depression and anxiety.
Let's talk meditation.
Many of us are reluctant to try meditation. You might thing it is woo woo to you don’t have enough time.
